About IND

The Institute for Neurodegenerative Disorders (IND), founded in 2001, is an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit research institute based in New Haven, Connecticut. The company was founded in 2001 by Drs. Kenneth Marek and John Seibyl, who had previously established their collaboration while on the faculty at Yale University.

Their goal was to create a unique clinical research company that combines excellence in clinical neuroscience with state-of-art imaging to develop improved tools for the diagnosis and treatment Parkinson disease, Alzheimer disease and other neurologic conditions.

IND’s team of expert researchers includes neurologists, a nuclear medicine physician, nurses, study coordinators, neuropsychologists, and imaging technologists. Meet the team.

Our research is focused on four related programs:

  • Evaluating new treatments
  • Developing imaging studies for diagnosing and monitoring disease progression
  • Detecting neurologic disease before symptoms appear
  • Promoting healthy aging

IND is actively involved in novel clinical studies offering the potential to slow neurological disease or even restore neurological function. This will be accomplished through combining the use of new and innovative imaging techniques with evaluation of treatments aimed at slowing the progression of neurodegeneration. Active research programs are currently available at IND for the following conditions:

  • Parkinson Disease
  • Alzheimer Disease
  • Huntington Disease

As a non-profit scientific research institute, IND depends on the support of foundations, state and federal grants, corporations, and the participation and contributions of individuals in order to carry out its important work. IND does not charge patients for any of its services, including clinical evaluations or educational programs provided by its staff.
